The Association of Mining and Exploration Companies Inc. (AMEC) is the peak industry body for junior and mid-size mineral exploration and mining companies within Australia.
It was formed in 1981 by a group of mineral explorers and is now regarded as 'the voice' and most successful advocate for mineral exploration within Australia.
AMEC's primary objective is to secure a political and commercial environment that fosters mineral exploration and mining within Australia.
Since inception, one of AMEC key strengths has been that it is free of 'capture' by large companies paying enormous subscriptions. As a consequence, AMEC is not driven by the specific interests of large companies and this credibility enables AMEC to retain strong relationships with all sides of politics at the highest level and provide members with an advocacy power they could not otherwise generate.
Australia wide, AMEC's members include some of Australia's largest mining houses (eg Jubilee Mines N.L., Consolidated Minerals Ltd, and LionOre Mining Australia Pty Ltd) and some of Australia's most notable mineral explorers (eg De Grey Mining, Metex Resources and Jackson Gold to name a few).
AMEC also enjoys the support of numerous Associate Members - companies who service the mineral exploration and mining industry. These include the ASX, Hunt & Humphry, Ernst & Young, and Commonwealth Bank to name just a few.
The benefits of membership are significant and include commercial benefits (which often make membership cash-flow positive), representation and advocacy, timely access to critical information, profiling/promoting our members, and networking/industry interaction.

| AMEC members exclusively enjoy
commercial benefits which in, dollar terms, often exceed the cost of
membership. For these members, membership is cash-flow positive. |
