The Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC), is the peak industry representative body for mineral exploration and mining throughout Australia with offices in Perth and Brisbane.
Founded in 1981, our purpose is to facilitate a positive political and economic environment to grow the exploration and mining industry on behalf of our members.
We are regarded as an extremely professional, credible and effective advocate for the industry by governments, stakeholders, and our growing membership base.
At AMEC we have formed industry based standing committees and working groups to ensure our many policies and advocacy initiatives express our member’s views, which are integral to policy positions adopted and implemented by AMEC. These committees allow members to become involved and directly influence AMEC’s direction and activities.
AMEC is governed by an Executive Council elected by our members.
Additionally, our seven permanent staff members, have a variety of expertise from different industries. This combined with knowledge and passion for the resources sector ensures AMEC members are provided with the best possible service and outcomes.
