AMEC welcomes the new Cabinet
"The Association of Mineral and Exploration Companies congratulates the Ministers appointed to the Cabinet today,” said Simon Bennison, Chief Executive Officer, Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC).
“The new Cabinet has a full agenda ahead of them to reduce the cost of doing business in Western Australia, lift investment and promote growth in mineral exploration to discover the mines of tomorrow”
“AMEC is looking forward to working with Mr Peter Tinley MLA, the new Minister for Mines and Petroleum.”
“The Minister must urgently repeal Mining Regulation 28A, a discriminatory regulation that provides the State with a mechanism to charge a ‘rental’ of 25 cents per tonne of iron ore obtained from a mining lease after 15 years of operation.”
“The Minister must reinvigorate the reform of environmental regulation and clarify WA Labor’s policy approach to approved uranium projects in WA to provide certainty to the sector’s investors.”
“The appointment of Mr Ben Wyatt MLA as the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs is positive. He holds a very important portfolio for the mines and mineral exploration sector. AMEC hopes he will deliver reform to increase transparency and certainty, and reduce the cost of doing business.”
“AMEC looks forward to working with the new Cabinet,” said Mr Bennison.
