Minister Johnston supports the Mining Rehabilitation Fund
“Minister Johnston used his speech at AMEC’s Annual General Meeting to reinforce his focus on increasing jobs in the mining and mineral exploration sector and voice his support of the mining rehabilitation fund,” said Simon Bennison, Chief Executive Officer, Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC).
“AMEC looks forward to working with Minister Johnston in the coming year to deliver value and needed reforms for our members,” said Mr Bennison.
“The outlook for the mining and exploration sector in the coming year is positive. The feeling in the room was that growth and confidence has returned to the industry and certainly in some commodities, such as lithium and gold, activity has already picked up.”
The AMEC Annual General Meeting was well attended, with Will Robinson, the President of AMEC, highlighting the key policy priorities for the coming year.
“The push to cost recovery for the Australian Securities and Investment Commission, the roll-over of the Exploration Development Incentive, the delivery of ‘one stop shop’ environmental processes, and standing against Local Government’s gouging the mining and exploration sector are on the agenda for the coming year,” said Mr Robinson.
AMEC's Annual General Meeting was held on 6 April 2017 in West Perth, WA.
