Queensland budget delivers for North West Minerals Province
“This year the Queensland Budget is focussed on improving mining and mineral exploration in the North-West province of Queensland,” said Simon Bennison, Chief Executive Officer, Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC).
“The $27 million invested over four years to expand mineral exploration and development in the North-West Minerals Province is good for industry.”
“AMEC supports the Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, Dr Anthony Lynham, when he says in his media statement that the mining industry in Queensland is approaching a critical juncture. As mines come closer to the end of their life they will need to be replenished.
“To discover the mines of tomorrow more greenfields mineral exploration is needed.”
“While more mapping data is beneficial, what Queensland needs is greater investment in greenfields exploration. It is positive to see that $3.6million has been set aside for the Collaborative Exploration Initiative.”
“AMEC considers that more resources are required for greenfields mineral exploration drilling.”
“The mines of tomorrow are found by drilling in greenfields areas.”
“AMEC looks forward to working with the Government to make Queensland a more attractive place for investment and encourage exploration and mining activities for the benefit of the whole economy,” said Mr Bennison.
